오는 2022년 11월 21일, 카타르 내의 8개의 경기장에서 FIFA 월드컵 2022가 개최될 예정이다. 총 8개의 경기장 중, 기존의 칼리파 인터네셔널 스타디움을 제외한 7개의 경기장들은 모두 최근에 지어졌으며 이 중 도하에 건설되는 974 스타디움에 사용된 건축 방식과 자제가 이목을 끌었다.

지금까지의 올림픽과 월드컵들을 위해 지어진 대부분의 경기장들이 대회가 끝난 후 관리 소홀로 인한 문제들로 국가의 애물단지가 되어버리는 경우가 대다수였다. 그러나 974 스타디움은 이름처럼 974개의 조립식 컨테이너들을 모듈식 디자인으로 지어 대회가 끝난후, 완전 철거 그리고 재사용이 용이하도록 건축되었다. 이러한 방식은 건설 비용, 기간을 효과적으로 단축할수 있으며 탄소 배출과 건축 쓰레기 절감에도 효과적이다. 주최 측의 설명에 따르면, 철거 후에 해체된 컨테이너들과 의자, 지붕과 같은 건설 자재들은 아프리카의 개발도상국으로 보내지거나 카타르 내외의 시설, 다른 행사의 재료로도 사용될수 있다고 한다. 

The FIFA World Cup will be held at eight stadiums in Qatar on November 21, 2022. Of the total eight stadiums, seven stadiums were recently built and the construction methods and materials used one of the stadiums which named 974 Stadium have attracted public attention.

Most of the Stadiums built for the Olympics and World Cups so far have become a national nuisance due to problems caused by mismanagement after the events. However, the 974 Stadium, as its name suggests, was built in a modular design with 974 prefabrication containers, completely demolished and reused after the event. This method can effectively reduce construction costs and duration, and it also effective in reducing carbon emissions and construction waste. According to the organizers, the containers, chairs and roofs, etc. dismantled and could be sent to developing countries in Africa or used as materials for facilities inside and outside Qatar and other events.​
